Batch Stainless Steel Machining Cost: Is 304 Always the Most Economical Choice?

In batch stainless steel machining, 304 has a lower material cost, but it can create built-up edge, faster tool wear, slower cycle time, and unstable chip control. Once tool cost, chip-clearing stoppages, tapping risk, and machining time are included, the lowest material price does not always mean the lowest part cost.
