Types of Plastic CNC Machining

CNC Milling Plastic

Similar to metal machining but good plastic milling typically requires higher spindle speeds and sharper tools.

CNC Turning Plastic

The workpiece rotates while the tool moves linearly, ideal for cylindrical and conical parts.

CNC Drilling Plastic

Care must be taken with material toughness and thread strength when tapping plastics.

Plastic Machining Materials We Serve

Plastic machining is used to produce custom parts when injection molding is not economical or when tight tolerances, short lead times, and engineering-grade material properties are required. JADE-CNC helps select plastics based on strength, transparency, heat resistance, chemical resistance, and dimensional stability.

Advantages of Plastic CNC Machining

Precision Manufacturing

Achieves high accuracy and intricate details, ideal for tight-tolerance prototypes and end-use parts where dimensional stability is critical.

Rapid Prototyping

Enables quick design iterations and functional testing without the need for expensive molds, significantly shortening development cycles.

Material Versatility

Supports a wide range of engineering and commodity plastics, including ABS, Nylon, PEEK, PMMA, and PTFE, each offering distinct properties such as transparency, flexibility, or chemical resistance.

Cost-Effective Production

Eliminates mold costs for low to medium volumes, reduces material waste through efficient nesting, and minimizes setup time, making it economical for custom and small-batch production.

Lightweight & Functional Properties

Produces strong yet lightweight components with inherent benefits such as electrical insulation, vibration damping, and corrosion resistance.

Smooth Finish & Aesthetic Flexibility

Delivers excellent surface quality directly from machining, easily allowing painting, plating, or other finishes for both functional and visual purposes.

Applications of Plastic CNC Machining

CNC plastic machining is a precise and flexible manufacturing method for prototypes, fixtures, housings, covers, gears, bushings, medical components, aerospace parts, and electronic insulation parts. It enables complex custom plastic parts without mold tooling and is suitable for engineering validation and low-volume production.

FAQ

No MOQ. We really understand the RD phase specialize in supporting projects from a single prototype through to low-volume production. We understand R&D needs and apply the same rigorous process and quality control, whether for one part or one hundred.

Please provide your 3D model (STEP/IGES preferred) and 2D drawings (with critical dimensions, tolerances, material, and finish specified). We will provide a transparent, detailed quotation based on machining time, material, complexity, and post-processing, with no hidden costs.

For parts of standard complexity, our typical CNC machining lead time is 7-15 working days (from confirmed drawings/payment). We offer expedited service with delivery in 1-3 working days, subject to part evaluation and an additional rush fee.

Our standard machining tolerance is ±0.025 mm (±0.001″). For critical features, we can achieve ±0.005 mm (±0.0002″) or better, depending on part geometry and material. We will perform a DFM analysis and confirm all critical tolerances with you upon receiving your drawings.

Yes, it’s part of our standard process. We perform First Article Inspection (FAI) and can provide inspection reports (e.g., dimensional check sheets, CMM data for critical features) upon request. Our full suite of inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, etc.) ensures every batch meets your specifications.

We stock various aerospace and commercial-grade metals and plastics, such as Aluminum (6061, 7075), Stainless Steel (304, 316), Carbon Steel, Brass, PEEK, Delrin, etc. For critical projects, we can provide mill certificates for the raw materials upon request.

Your intellectual property is our top priority. We are glad to sign a legally-binding Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before any project begins. All digital files are stored on encrypted servers with access strictly limited to the project team.

We are committed to 100% customer satisfaction. If a non-conformance is confirmed to be our manufacturing fault, we will remake or repair the parts at no cost and cover the resulting shipping fees. We ask that you inspect the parts promptly upon receipt and provide a detailed description with photos/video.

We provide various post-processing services, including: Bead blasting, Anodizing (Type II & III, various colors), Electroless Nickel Plating, Passivation, Electroplating, Powder Coating, and Silk Screening. We can advise based on your functional or aesthetic requirements.

For new clients, our standard terms are “50% deposit to start production, 50% balance before shipment.” We accept international payment methods like Wire Transfer and PayPal. Terms can be discussed for established, long-term partnerships.
