Stainless Steel Machining Capabilities of JADE-CNC

Key Challenges in Stainless Steel CNC Machining

Stainless steel can work-harden, generate heat, and accelerate tool wear during machining. JADE-CNC controls cutting parameters, coolant, tooling, fixturing, and inspection to maintain stable dimensions and surface finish.
Precision alloy CNC machining process

Work Hardening and Tool Wear

Austenitic stainless steels such as 304 and 316 can work-harden during cutting, so stable tooling, suitable feeds, and coolant control are important for accuracy and surface quality.

Poor Heat Dissipation

Low thermal conductivity causes heat to concentrate in the cutting zone, easily leading to tool overheating, reduced tool life, and potential thermal distortion of the workpiece.

Stringent Precision Requirements

Often used for precision seals, demanding extremely tight dimensional tolerances (typically under ±0.025mm). Any vibration or tool deflection during machining can render the part out of specification.

Residual Stress and Distortion

Internal stresses induced during machining may cause subsequent part distortion, affecting final dimensional stability and the flatness of sealing surfaces.

Demanding Post-Processing Requirements

Parts frequently require electroplating (e.g., nickel, gold) to ensure solderability and corrosion resistance. This necessitates a uniform, clean, defect-free machined surface, adding complexity to the process.

Industrial Applications of Stainless Steel CNC Machining

Stainless steel is used for corrosion-resistant housings, shafts, valve parts, medical components, marine hardware, food equipment parts, fasteners, fixtures, and high-strength precision components.

FAQ

No MOQ. We really understand the RD phase specialize in supporting projects from a single prototype through to low-volume production. We understand R&D needs and apply the same rigorous process and quality control, whether for one part or one hundred.

Please provide your 3D model (STEP/IGES preferred) and 2D drawings (with critical dimensions, tolerances, material, and finish specified). We will provide a transparent, detailed quotation based on machining time, material, complexity, and post-processing, with no hidden costs.

For parts of standard complexity, our typical CNC machining lead time is 7-15 working days (from confirmed drawings/payment). We offer expedited service with delivery in 1-3 working days, subject to part evaluation and an additional rush fee.

Our standard machining tolerance is ±0.025 mm (±0.001″). For critical features, we can achieve ±0.005 mm (±0.0002″) or better, depending on part geometry and material. We will perform a DFM analysis and confirm all critical tolerances with you upon receiving your drawings.

Yes, it’s part of our standard process. We perform First Article Inspection (FAI) and can provide inspection reports (e.g., dimensional check sheets, CMM data for critical features) upon request. Our full suite of inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, etc.) ensures every batch meets your specifications.

We stock various aerospace and commercial-grade metals and plastics, such as Aluminum (6061, 7075), Stainless Steel (304, 316), Carbon Steel, Brass, PEEK, Delrin, etc. For critical projects, we can provide mill certificates for the raw materials upon request.

Your intellectual property is our top priority. We are glad to sign a legally-binding Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before any project begins. All digital files are stored on encrypted servers with access strictly limited to the project team.

We are committed to 100% customer satisfaction. If a non-conformance is confirmed to be our manufacturing fault, we will remake or repair the parts at no cost and cover the resulting shipping fees. We ask that you inspect the parts promptly upon receipt and provide a detailed description with photos/video.

We provide various post-processing services, including: Bead blasting, Anodizing (Type II & III, various colors), Electroless Nickel Plating, Passivation, Electroplating, Powder Coating, and Silk Screening. We can advise based on your functional or aesthetic requirements.

For new clients, our standard terms are “50% deposit to start production, 50% balance before shipment.” We accept international payment methods like Wire Transfer and PayPal. Terms can be discussed for established, long-term partnerships.
